Pupil Premium & Catch Up
The Pupil Premium is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and other students.
At Tupton Hall School we use Pupil Premium funding in many different ways to improve the achievement of disadvantaged students. There are some specific intervention programmes to assist students with their work, there is the ability to have some funding to support purchases of equipment, revision guides and or pay for educational trips. We are always looking at new ways to use this money and evaluate its spending each year.
The Literacy and Numeracy Catch-Up Premium
The literacy and numeracy catch-up premium gives schools additional funding to support Year 7 pupils who did not achieve the expected standard in reading or maths at the end of key stage 2 (KS2).
All state-funded schools with year 7 pupils receive this funding, including:
- schools maintained by the local authority
- academies
- free schools
- alternative provision settings
At Tupton Hall School, we use the money to improve the progress of these students in English and Maths and to ensure that their reading and spelling ages improve. The English and Maths faculties have specialist staff working with these students, as do the Enhanced Learning Faculty. Please see details of the spending, below, and how it benefited students:
