Entry Requirements

All students must attain five 9-4 grades at GCSE (or BTEC equivalents) with preferably a grade 5 in either English Language or Mathematics. Individual subjects will require a specific grade in a particular subject at GCSE.

All students will be expected to choose 3 A Levels which they will study for 2 years (the exception being students who study 3 A Levels plus Further Mathematics). More information about Courses, entry requirements and option blocks can be found by clicking here.

There will be examinations in the summer term of Year 12 and in Year 13:  courses are assessed regularly through classwork, homework, independent study, coursework and formal examinations.

All students will be interviewed by a member of the Sixth Form team. This will enable them to make an informed choice about the best subjects to suit their individual needs. Parents are welcome to discuss these choices with the Sixth Form team following the interview.

Bursary Forms & Information

It is vitally important that parents so not send the completed forms via email; they can only be handed in as paper copies in a sealed envelope.

16 - 18 Student Bursary Fund

The current bursary policy and application will be changing considerably on all levels. This policy is applicable up to Summer 2022; a new policy will be ready for the new cohort.

You could benefit from financial support to help with:

  • Transport
  • Equipment
  • Meals
  • Educational visits or trips and more.

16 - 19 Tuition Fund

What is the 16-19 Tuition Fund?

The 16-19 tuition fund is a one-off funding allocation for 20-21 academic year only. The fund is being provided to support learners to catch up and close any gaps in their learning that may have been exacerbated by the COVID-19 lockdown.

The students supported by the Tuition Fund at Tupton Hall School had not achieved grade 5 or above in GCSE Maths in the summer of 2020.

Who can be supported by this fund?

Learners must be aged 16-19 and must not have already achieved a GSCE grade 5 or above in maths and/or English by age 16.

How is Tupton Hall School using this Fund?

Provision will be scheduled in addition to the planned programme of study hours already timetabled for the academic year 2020/21. Tuition sessions will be delivered face to face, online or through a blended delivery model.  The funding will also be used to enhance the provision provided through the allocation of resources and materials to support the learning outside of the classroom.

Examples of some of the Tuition Support on offer will include

Maths support through designated coaching by specialist Teachers:  the allocation has been organised to ensure that all students can access this provision at a time that fits with their A Level provision: additional staff have been allocated to ensure that students receive additional hours above the original PLH

  • GCSE revision workshops
  • Academic skills support and development
  • Technical knowledge and skills support to aid mastery and make up for any shortfall from previous learning.
  • All students will be supplied with essential equipment packs to support their learning in school and at home.
  • All resources and equipment will be provided to the students at no cost.
  • Class size will be kept very small to ensure that each student receives specialist and personalised support.

Tuition Support offered will be based on an individual need’s assessment, the identification of an individual starting point, clear learning goals, expectations and outcomes.

What is our pledge?

The School is committed to ensuring the tuition fund is used in accordance with the Government’s guidance on the 16 to 19 tuition fund by:

  • Producing this statement setting out how the fund will be used to support the most disadvantaged students
  • Publishing this guidance on the School website
  • Recording the use of the fund, including references to individual students who receive support, the needs of those students, the number of hours of tuition delivered and retain the evidence of the tuition provided and demonstrate the impact of the support provided
  • Delivering the extra tuition and spend the allocated funds in the academic year 2020/21
  • Notify the Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) of any underspend from the Fund for it to be reclaimed
