Year 8 Summer Camp

Year 8 Summer Camp

All Year 8 students are invited to take part in our Walesby Summer Camp 2016. Each year students have great fun developing team work skills, problem solving ability, communication skills, resilience and independence. Students will take part in kayaking, raft building, canoeing, climbing, body boarding, archery and many other activities.

The visit is based at the Walesby Forest Outdoor Centre, outside Worksop. ( It is a two day camp so that students get the full outdoor adventure experience. Students will have use of school tents and sleeping mats, but will need to bring a sleeping bag or duvet. There may even be toasted marshmallows!

  • The camp will take place on Monday 11 and Tuesday 12 July 2016 for students in 8C1, 8CA, 8CX, 8G1 and 8GA.
  • The camp will take place on Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13 July for students in 8H1, 8HA, 8HX, 8T1, 8TA, and 8TX.

Students will register as usual in their form rooms at 8.30am on the first day of the camp. They will then leave school at 9am to travel to Walesby by coach. Students will return by 5.30pm on their second day. Students will receive a kit list nearer the time. They will need a packed lunch on the first day, but all other food is provided.

The cost of the trip is £55. Please complete and return the attached consent form and payment for the trip to Student Services BY FRIDAY 22 APRIL. Alternatively, should you wish to split the cost, please return a deposit of £30 by Friday 22 April to secure your child’s place, and a second balance of £25 BY FRIDAY 20 MAY. Separate letters have gone out to students in receipt of the Pupil Premium.

We are really looking forward to seeing the spirit of adventure in our Year 8s!
