A very well done to Mr Shuttleworth for his amazing achievement, representing Great Britain in the Open Age Group World Triathlon Championships in London on Sunday 15 September 2013.
Mr Shuttleworth represented Great Britain in the 30 - 34 age category, after qualifying in the top 7 of a qualifying event back in July. He finished in 24th position out of 140 triathletes from all around the world, 14th fastest time by a GB athlete and a personal triumph having competed last year, finishing 54th.
Not only did Mr Shuttleworth achieve an amazing time, 1.53.38, but having potentially broken his toe at the beginning of his 10K run, made this achievement even more incredible.
Mr Shuttleworth said "the whole occasion was amazing, the routes were lined with people all cheering on the GB athletes. It really does make you feel very proud. I was supported by my great family and brilliant friends who made the weekend feel even more special."
Mr Shuttleworth now plans to have a well-deserved rest and indulge in some of the finer things which he had to sacrifice whilst training such as chocolate! He will then be competing in Austria in June 2014 for the European Championships, before attempting to qualify for the World Championships in Edmonton, Canada in August.
From all students and staff, a very well done!
