Tupton Hall Student Joins Derbyshire Youth Council
Congratulations to Year 9 student
Andrew Gillott, who has been elected to the Derbyshire Youth Council. Although a number of Tupton Hall School students
showed an interest in this excellent opportunity Andrew was the only one to be
nominated through Derbyshire County Council’s ‘The Big Vote’ campaign. As a result he was automatically elected.
Andrew hopes to ensure that the council listen to the views of young people on issues such as:
- Affordable sport and leisure facilities for young people
- Apprenticeship/job opportunities for school leavers
- Better advertising of events aimed at young people.
- University Fees
Andrew said, "I’m looking forward
to getting involved in the Derbyshire Youth Council. If other students have any
ideas that they would like taking forward to the youth council conferences I’d
be happy to hear from them. Hopefully we can try and improve some things as I’d
like to help people out."
If you have ideas that you think Andrew
should be taking to the Youth Council get them to him through your school
council rep or directly to Andrew, who is in Mrs Slater’s form.
