The Duke of Edinburgh's Award

The Duke of Edinburgh Award has been thriving at Tupton Hall for a number of years. We usually recruit for Bronze during Year 9 and many students continue to do their Silver and then Gold whilst in the Sixth Form.

The Award is held in very high esteem by many people, including employers and Higher Education institutes. Recently several students have been invited to St James’ Palace to receive their Gold Award.

Currently we have over 60 participants, including 20 students who have either achieved their Gold or are very close to doing so. In recent years, we have taken expeditions for Y12 and Y13 students to the Yorkshire Dales, the Dark Peak, Snowdonia and the Lake District.

For the Gold award, participants must also attend a residential course of their own choosing, away from home for a week. In addition, they have to complete a voluntary activity in the community, a skill activity and a physical recreation activity, each for up to twelve months.
