Fifteen talented poets from Year 7 performed poetry in front of a packed hall of students and staff in the Richard Smith Hall.
Many of the students had written their own poems and performed with confidence, humour and character.
Winner of the student vote was John Wilkinson who wrote and performed 'Hot Food'.
The three winners of the judges vote were:
3rd - Ebony with 'Twin Towers'
2nd - Leah with 'Secondary School Worry Ball'
1st - Jasmine with 'Food to Groove'
The event was started and brought to a close with two fantastic songs performed by Kian Mosley.
He started off the event with Artic Monkeys song 'I bet that you look good on the dancefloor' and ended it with a song he'd written himself called 'Secrets.'
Teachers Mr Pateman and Miss Pashley also performed some poetry, much to the delight of the crowd.
Mrs Pashley performed 'An Ode to 7C1' which she'd written herseld and Mr Pateman got into character performing Jabberwocky by Lewis Carol.
