A phizz-whizzing, whoopsy wiffling, gloriumptious celebration took place in the Tupton Hall School library to mark what would have been Roald Dahl's birthday.
A dazzling array of creative activities and games were planned by the school librarians in homage to one of the world's best loved children's authors.
The 'golden ticket' invitation was open to Year 7 students, who had just started at Tupton Hall, with the aim of encouraging them to forge friendships and have fun in the library.
They entered through gigantic chocolate doors, like something from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Once inside students played games including 'Fantastic Mr Fox' Cellar Slalom' - a trolley dash down the library aisles won by Pippa Carter with an astounding time of 24.32 seconds! Then there was the energetic 'Miss Trunchball's Hammer Throw Hoops' before the challenge of plucking worms from spaghetti using chopsticks in 'The Twits' Spaghetti Worm Game'.
The hungry human-beans guzzled a lavish buffet of cakes and the BFG's favourite fizz 'frobscottle'.
They also got creative decorating gingerbread men and testing their Roald Dahl knowledge with quizzes and a treasure hunt.
