Duke of Edinburgh

The DofE is a challenging range of activities for young people aged from 14 – 25.

It has been running successfully at Tupton Hall as an extracurricular activity for over 10 years.

Where to start

To enrol for Bronze, participants must be aged 13 years and 9 months, so we normally start recruiting during Year 9 then begin training so that expeditions can be undertaken from March onwards.  

There are three levels:

  • Bronze (begin at 13.9)
  • Silver (begin at 15)
  • Gold (begin at 16)

There are four sections for each level plus an extra (Residential) for Gold:

  • Skill
  • Physical
  • Volunteering
  • Expedition
  • Residential (Gold only)

  • Singing

  • Cookery
  • War games
  • Pet care
  • Puppetry
  • Electronics
  • Cycle maintenance
  • Chess
  • Playing an instrument
  • Chemistry
  • Photography
  • Fishing
  • Model making
  • Go-karting

  • Helping an elderly neighbour
  • Coaching youngsters at a sports club
  • Fundraising for a good cause
  • Helping at a charity organisation
  • Helping younger ones at Scouts or Guides
